It’s fair to say that if you are at all aware of current events in the tech or financial circles, you’ve probably heard quite a bit about blockchain. For those not in those communities or not in the know, blockchain is a mostly decentralized method of online storage. There are many benefits to this, not the least of which is the fact that this decentralized setup. It allows for both faster action and interaction to take place as well as increased security.

These are frequently the points parroted by advocates of Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency is carried on decentralized self-checking platforms, thus making it harder in theory to hack the entire system, and boasts faster tracking and transaction.

But blockchain is far more than simply a means to make cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin work. Blockchain can be used for a variety of other online decentralized self-checking needs – and the educational community is beginning to take notice.

Test Prep Programs

One possibility with a ton of potential is utilizing blockchain in conjunction with test prep programs. The decentralized nature of blockchain can allow it to be utilized in such a way as to access different programs from all over the world. In addition, it can store test material on decentralized servers as well.

And that’s just the beginning. Blockchain can also be paired with chatbot technology to allow students to “chat” with online learning programs from around the world, allowing them an unprecedented degree of access to information on any number of subjects.

Transportation Programs

There has been a lot of speculation recently about the role blockchain can play in the world of ridesharing. Given how popular apps such as Lyft and Uber have become and the progress that’s being made on self-driving cars, the days of ordering the latter via the former may not be far off.

This can have significant implications for school travel programs, with the possibility of ordering a ride for your child every day, saving you the hassle of having to drop off and pick up your child yourself.

As with so many aspects of blockchain, there is a world of possibility.
